Who Are You, Really? Probably Not Who You Think ✨
My dear friend, have you looked at your old photos recently. That funny teenage self with the
bad haircut, the awkward smile, that questionable fashion sense. Same eyes, same smile... same
person, right? WRONG. Science says you’ve been replaced.
A study stretching from age fourteen to seventy seven (yep, the longest personality study ever!)
says personality doesn’t just “mature” it straight-up mutates beyond recognition. Oh well, it
looks like my personality shape-shifted so much from fourteen to the present, I'm practically a
stranger to my past selves.
That voice in my head whispering: "I am... me." Yeah, that’s fake. My "self" is just a story I
keep repeating like a catchy but slightly annoying song.
So what’s real, if anything? You, me, our cherished little “I am” badge it’s all part of the
greatest scam in the universe. The ultimate counterfeit. The "self" is fake. The whole “this is
me” story is built on recycled memories and second-hand narratives handed down from mom and dad
and society.
Freedom? That holy grail everyone’s chasing? It’s not outside it’s from yourself. Because the
“self” is the original prison cell. Want out? Stop buying into the illusion that you were born,
that you are a someone, somewhere, doing something. You’re not.
The real freedom is awakening from the illusion of "you". The trap isn’t your job, your bank
account, or your relationships. It’s the belief that you’re someone solid, permanent, real.
So go ahead chase your dreams, fall in love, fight for success, collect followers on Facebook
and Instagram, but know this: the world, your goals, even “you”... are just convincing mirage
stitched together by thought.
Have you ever heard of Jiddu Krishnamurti? Krishnamurti was a spiritual giant of India. As a
barefoot kid in Calcutta, he was picked up by Annie Besant the leader of Theosophical
Society, moved to London, told “Congrats, you’re the new World Teacher!” and ten years later
he was like “Nah, I’m good. Awakening is a pathless land”. Iconic.
During the one of his lectures, Krishnamurti asked the audience if they wanted to know his
secret. The lecture hall went silent, and everyone leaned forward... "You see," he said, "I
don’t give a shit about anything." (I’m giving a little spin here, this was not his
vocabulary.) He said “You see, I don’t mind what happens.”
That's it, my dear friends, the real secret of happy life. Don't give a shit about anything
or anyone, accept everything that happens with indifference. Translation? Stop giving a
crap. See the fake as fake. That’s life as real as it gets, play the game but don’t forget
it’s a game.
Seriously, you're stressed, anxious, and spiraling because you care too much about things
that don’t matter. Let it go. Maybe even read Krishnamurti. Or don't. He wouldn’t mind
either way.
